Give Me Bible

Background

Around 2021, God gave me an assignment: to work with the youth at my former church. I absolutely side-eyed Him and said, “What youth?” There were few youths left, and their parents had stopped attending services. Fast-forward to 2022, and I was asked to be the director of the Youth Department. Since God had already given the word almost a year prior, I agreed.

There were no templates, protocols, or guidelines set before me. When I first started, my average attendance was about 3 youths, and from there, I gained my core group of 5. In my 2 years with the youth, I discovered that they had a deep passion for Christ. This was different from when I was a youth; we showed up to these gatherings to escape being home.

The Beginning

To feed and grow their knowledge of Christ, I started making Bible-related flashcards with questions and topics. It also led me to spend more time in my Word. How can you teach what you hold no knowledge of?

The process

Fast-forward, the year is now 2025, and God says turn the flashcards digital, we’re gonna make it into a trivia game. There were different types of questions on the flashcards and so different categories for the game.

  • You name it
  • What book
  • Guess who
  • A numbers game
  • True or false
  • This song is in reference to what scripture
  • Where does it say
  • Fill in the blanks (back-pocket scriptures)
  • Women in the Bible

The name Give Me Bible came from a sermon I heard in 2023 by the First Lady Pastor Joelle Meristal. She was ministering at CAYLC, the Connecticut Association of Youth Leaders for Christ. Clear as day, as I’m thinking of what to call the game he brought to remembrance a phrase from that particular night.

Shameless plug, CAYLC is celebrating 15 years this year. Join us for a 2-week crusade from July 5th to July 19th, the first week is dedicated to prayer.

I got stuck trying to figure out the design for the outer box. It was the last thing I did before submitting the final revisions to my supplier. We have fire on one side and clouds on the other, representing the signs God used to lead his children out of Egypt.

Give Me Bible didn’t come overnight; it went through stages, and by the grace of God, it is now ready for the world. With each game sold, they represent seeds being planted in the hearts of men. The goal is to seek the face of God for themselves.
